How to Make a Finger Frame AI Effect

The Quick Version

Open the FingerFrame AI studio, choose Load demo, Open camera, or Upload, then make a rectangle with your index fingers and thumbs. The frame locks onto the selected area. Choose Cartoon, Comic, Funny, or Anime to preview an effect instantly, then save an image or record a short clip.

No gesture? Drag a rectangle with a mouse or finger. If you do nothing, the studio selects a useful central subject automatically.

1. Choose an Input

Live camera

Choose Open camera and allow camera access. Keep both hands visible with your palms facing the camera. Good, even lighting makes fingertip tracking more stable. Nothing from local camera mode is uploaded to FingerFrame AI.

Photo or short video

Upload a JPEG, PNG, WebP, MP4, WebM, or QuickTime file. Images can be up to 10 MB. Videos can be up to 5 seconds, 15 MB, and 720p. The short limit keeps browser processing responsive and makes the frame easier to follow.

Built-in demo

Choose Load demo when you want to understand the effect without granting camera permission or finding a file. The demo starts with an automatic subject selection that you can redraw.

2. Make and Lock the Frame

Hold both hands up. Bring each thumb toward its index finger so the four fingertips suggest the corners of a rectangle. Once the shape is stable, FingerFrame locks the frame. It remains in place if your hands briefly leave the shot, so you can move naturally instead of holding a pose forever.

You can redraw at any time. On desktop, drag from one corner to the opposite corner. On a phone or tablet, use the same gesture with touch. Manual selection is also the most reliable option when hands overlap, lighting is poor, or only one hand is visible.

3. Preview a Local Effect

Local effects change only the pixels inside the frame:

• Cartoon simplifies colour and gives the selection a softer illustrated look.
• Comic increases contrast and creates a punchier printed-panel treatment.
• Funny exaggerates colour for a playful reaction-shot effect.
• Anime shifts tone and detail toward a bright stylised portrait.

These are instant browser effects, not generative AI. They are unlimited, require no account, and keep camera and upload pixels on your device.

4. Save or Upgrade the Result

For a photo, choose Save frame to download the current composition. For a video or camera, record a short clip. FingerFrame combines the processed canvas with source audio when the browser exposes an audio track; the exact output format depends on browser support.

For a generative result, sign in, confirm adult and regional eligibility, and spend credits on a private hosted output. Before creating a task, FingerFrame applies its mandatory local baseline blocklist and Waffo Prompt Sift. The baseline cannot be removed; administrator rules only add to it, and the rules are reviewed at least monthly and after relevant legal, provider, report, or abuse events. After prompt approval, the exact source image or video is placed in short-lived private preflight storage and must pass the applicable Evolink-routed visual checks; otherwise no task is created, no credits are reserved, and no generation model is called. A provider result is then strictly validated and ingested into a user-invisible private quarantine object, where its actual-byte SHA-256 is calculated. Generated images must pass both Evolink Moderation 1.0 and Qwen3.8-Max against that exact immutable object, while generated videos must pass Qwen3.8-Max. Every Qwen check covers the six separately prohibited AUP categories plus self-harm, terrorism or violent extremism, and weapons or WMD assistance. Only explicit allows, successful audits, and an atomic task transition make the object deliverable. Anything else fails closed and is not delivered. An explicit output-policy violation records a safety strike and remains charged; a review result or safety-service, response, or audit failure restores reserved credits without a strike. Transport or private-storage failures retain the charge and may retry up to three times. Input and output files expire within 24 hours.

Hosted image editing uses Nano Banana 2 Lite for one moderated 1K image at 15 credits. Hosted short-video editing uses Gemini Omni Flash for one moderated three-second output at 30 credits.

Tips for a Cleaner Finger Frame Video Effect

• Face a window or soft lamp instead of placing a bright light behind you.
• Keep fingertips separated from the background and from each other.
• Start with a larger frame; make it smaller after tracking locks.
• For moving clips, choose a region with clear contrast and limited motion blur.
• Use manual touch selection on a phone if the front camera crops either hand.
• Preview locally before spending AI credits so your crop and timing are already right.

Privacy and Age Limits

Local mode is available without an account and does not upload media. Users aged 13–17 need guardian permission and may use local mode only. Hosted AI requires the user to be at least 18 and is region-limited. Read the Privacy Policy for the complete data flow.
